Google Pay™ allows you to make purchases using contactless and digital payment technology and unique security features built right into the devices you have with you every day. So you can use your mobile wallet to pay in a simple, secure, and private way.
- Where can I use Google Pay™?
You can use Google Pay™ at merchants accepting contactless payments as well as mag-stripe only terminals commonly deployed in-stores where a plastic card can be swiped. Look for the contactless payment symbol.
- How do I add my Debit cards to Google Pay™?
Simply open the Google Pay™ app and add your card by following the on-screen instructions. Upon load, your card will activate automatically.
- How do I remove a card from Google Pay™?
To remove a card from Android, select Google Pay™. Next, touch the card you want to remove and select ‘More.’ Then, simply touch ‘Delete Card.’ You will need to confirm by selecting ‘Delete.’ Confirm the card deletion again with your fingerprint or by touching PIN and entering the four-digit code.
- Is Google Pay™ secure?
Yes. Google Pay™ is secure because it processes transactions through a tokenisation service. This service replaces a card’s primary account number with a random numerical sequence unique to a specific device, merchant, transaction type or channel. Actual account numbers are not stored on the device, or on mobile servers, and cashiers will no longer see your name, credit card number or card security code, helping to reduce potential fraud.
- What is the process at the checkout with Google Pay™?
At checkout, unlock your device and hold near the contactless terminal. Your device will beep or vibrate, followed by an on-screen confirmation. You may be asked to sign a receipt or enter your pin to complete your transaction.
- What devices are compatible with Google Pay™?
Google Pay™ is available for most NFC and HCE capable devices running Android Kit Kat 4.4 or higher.
- Can I use Google Pay™ to make in-App purchases?
You can! Spot the Google Pay™ logo or ‘ Buy with Google Pay™ ’ at checkout? Select the payment option and confirm.
- Will I receive a digital receipt for my purchase and how will it appear?
You will receive a receipt as a standard Android notification. Click on the notification to view your receipt, which will display the merchant name, merchant logo and merchant contact information along with the basic transaction details (time, amount, etc).

You don’t need to add money to Google Pay™ in order to pay. All you need to do is add a payment method, like a debit or credit card. When you use Google Pay™, it’s just like how you would normally use your card.

Android Pay and Google Wallet are now part of Google Pay™. You can do all the same things you used to do with these apps, like pay in stores or send money to friends, using Google Pay™.

- In stores - You don’t need to see the Google Pay™ logo to use Google Pay™ in stores. If the store accepts contactless payments, you can pay with your phone. You can also look for either “contactless” or “Google Play” symbols.
- In apps and on websites - Pay with Google Pay™ anywhere you see these logos.

- How safe is Google Pay™?
Google Pay™ protects your payment info with multiple layers of security, using one of the world’s most advanced security infrastructures to help keep your account safe. When you pay in stores, Google Pay™ doesn’t share your actual card number, so your information stays secure.
- What if I lost my phones?
To buy things in stores, Google Pay™ requires you set a screen lock and unlock for most purchases. If you lose your phone, the screen lock helps prevent fraud. On Android devices, you can also lock and erase it remotely with Find My Device.
- How do I register disputes or report frauds?
If you need to report fraud or dispute a charge, you can request a call, send an email, or chat with Google Pay’s support team.
